Aker Horizons was established in November 2020, as the Aker group’s spearhead to decarbonize industry on a global scale. We incubate and invest in companies that can meaningfully reduce CO2 emissions, and subsequently grow and develop them to create value for Aker Horizons’ shareholders.
Aker Horizons takes a diversified approach to decarbonization. Our core areas consist of renewable energy, carbon capture and hydrogen – three key levers to achieve net zero by 2050. We originate and develop industrial-scale hydrogen projects to meet growing demand for decarbonizing energy-intensive, hard-to-abate industries. Initial focus areas include green ammonia, green methanol and green iron.
Each portfolio company works to maximize value individually, with separate management teams and boards, but with strong support from Aker Horizons to ensure activities are optimized across the entire value chain and to capitalize on internal expertise in the broader Aker group.
Aker Horizons is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange and headquartered in Fornebu, Norway. Across our portfolio, we employ approximately 1,100 people in 18 countries on five continents.
“Accelerating the transition to a renewables-based energy system is the answer to both the energy and climate crisis. This represents the world’s largest industrial challenge and opportunity, where speed and scale will be determining factors.”Lars Sperre
