Project

Narvik – green value chains for power-intensive industry

Contact

Aker Horizons is developing green value chains for power-intensive industry in Northern Norway.

Together with the local community, Aker Horizons is developing industrial activity that will convert existing surplus of renewable power into green jobs and sustainable industries.

Close to Narvik, Aker Horizons and Statkraft are developing a large-scale green ammonia facility with an installed electrolyser capacity of up to 600 MW. The facility will be one of the first large-scale green ammonia production facilities in Europe, with an estimated production of 1,000-1,500 tonnes per day. The hydrogen and ammonia plant will be located in Skoglund close to Narvik, with access to substantial grid capacity in Kvandal, just 1 km away. The produced ammonia will be transported by a tunneled pipeline down to a storage and export facility by the sea.
